چکیده

The impact of secondary flows on the flow velocity in open channel bends and confluences was simulated using three-dimensional (3D) numerical models. Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equation system utilized as governing equations two different turbulence models were employed this study: standard k-? model realizable k–? model. In a recent study by authors, rigid lid approach used, which does not allow for vertical displacement water surface. study, simulation free surface displacements volume fluid free-surface tracking method. evaluated validated experimental data sharply curved confluent channel. accuracies discussed. This found that both can satisfactorily reproduce data. However, performed better case while Realizable case.

Numerical Simulation of Free Surface in the Case of Plane Turbulent Wall Jets in Shallow Tailwater

Wall-jet flow is an important flow field in hydraulic engineering, and its applications include flow from the bottom outlet of dams and sluice gates. In this paper, the plane turbulent wall jet in shallow tailwater is simulated by solving the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations using the standard  turbulence closure model. This study aims to explore the ability of a time splitting method ...

the effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends

flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...

COMPUTER SIMULATION OF FLUID FLOW FILLING DURING MOLD USING FINITE VOLUME METHOD

In this investigation, ^5 2-D Finite Volume Method (FVM) with unstructured triangular mesh is developed to simulate the mould filling process. The simulation of fluid flow and track of free surface is based on the Marker And Cell (MAC) technique. This technique has capability ofhandling the arbitrary curved solid boundaries in the casting processes. In order to verify the computational results ...

buckling of viscoelastic composite plates using the finite strip method
